626 - WONDERFULL AMERICAN MADE RIFLEMANS KNIFE.
I bought this great knife at the Ohio Civil War show two weeks ago. It has every characteristic of a finely fashioned American Bowie, probably made by a Kentucky Rifle maker. The overall length of this knife was originally about 19". It has a 5 1/4" grip with wonderfull maple slabs on each side of the handle. The maple was unusually fashioned from a piece of tiger-striped maple with the stripes on the top and bottom. The maker then split the single piece and applied each slab to the sides of the tang before finishing. The result is a nice tiger-stripe on top and bottom and a birds-eye appearance on each slab face. It has a coffin-hilt and crossguard made of brass. The big clip-point blade measures 13 1/4", with the last 1/4 chipped off. This would make a wonderfull addition to a Kentucky rifle outfit.

325 - PIPE-TOMAHAWK. SUPERB CONDITION.
This is an absolutely stunning, hands-down original Indian Pipe Hawk, and the best I've seen on the market in many years. It is in beautiful patinaed finish and I can't express how wonderfull it is. It dates from 1850 - 1880 with a ton of character and just a glance tells the onlooker that it is 100% original and of the period, not a fixed-up or faked turn-of-the-century souvenir. This is the real deal and and we were lucky to acquire this through another dealer whose customer was upgrading to an earlier Eastern Hawk close to the 6-figure range. This Hawk is much more beautiful than the photos show.

pr__1 - BEAUTIFULL FULL STOCK NEW ENGLAND FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE MARKED "A. PRATT" ON BARREL.
This is a stunningly beautifull full-stock AND EXTREMLY WELL-MADE RIFLE. It is made in beautifull cherrywood and 58" o/a. The barrel is 42 3/4" and the lock marked "Ketland" appears to be in original flint but I cannot guarantee it. It has a perfectly original, checkered wrist and some delicate silver wire inlaid scrollwork rear of the barrel breech. There is a splinter of wood on each side of the barrel forend cap that has been re-glued, and there are no other repairs or alterations. This repair should be redone. Heavily rifled barrel of 60 - 62 caliber. This is the third of 3 almost identical rifles that I have come across, and several renowned dealers, including Neil Gutterman and the late William Guthman have expressed to me that these Pratt marked rifles are quite possibly Massachusettes Militia Rifles. Alvin Pratt of Sutton, Massachusettes is thought to be the maker of these as well as Muskets for the United States under the contract to independent makers of 1808.

rh_1 - ULTRA RARE AND EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FIND 19TH CENTURY RIFLEMANS HAWK.
I can't tell you how rare this item is to find. I just hope a buyer is not. We all know about and love a fine Pipe Tomahawk when it comes to the market. This is just a plain hawk, but from the form of the blade and haft, it presents itself as mid to late 19th century and is not an Indian product nor that of a fine craftsman. It is the type made for the pioneer and mountain man who needed a good strong hand axe and fighting piece without the frills. It can probably be dated by an expert in the field, but I'm not that person. Regardless, it is early, 100% original, and I'll back it to any expert a buyer may present it to.

S2075 - GOLDEN AGE KENTUCKY RIFLE, FLINTLOCK.
This is nothing short of a classic, special feature "Golden Age" Kentucky Rifle in original flint. It has a beautiful engraved and formed patch-box, silver mounts and silver key escutcheons. The cheek-piece is beautifully engraved with incised carving. Wonderful tiger-striped maple stock. There is an old Fladerman's add in the patch-box describing the gun when it was priced at $7,800.00 almost 20 years ago. This is a beautiful Kentucky with amazing documentation on the maker Jacob Merckle who served in the Revolutionary War as did his father, both of whom were Kentucky Rifle makers. Merckle died in 1821 placing this gun smack in the middle of the "Golden Age" era.

S3306 - PRE-REVOLUTIONARY WAR CLUB-BUTT FOWLER.
This is a totally untouched gun right out-of-the-woods that is probably a New England product, 1740 - 1770. The stock is made of Cherry and it retains all of its original red piano varnish. It does have some pretty good chipping on the upper edge of the stock on both sides that has some putty filler. This could, and should be removed and left as-is or be fixed by a competant restoration artist. The metal is all original, unmarked and in extremely fine condition including the original flintlock. Reminds me of a gun that would have been shipboard and used by rough & tumble Buccaneers.

S3165 - AMERICAN KENTUCKY LONG RIFLES. A FANTASTIC, IN-THE-BLACK PAIR.
You may never see such a set of guns the remainder of your lifetime. Both guns came from a farmhouse near Allentown, Pa. in the 1970's and have been in a collection ever since. Both appear to be products of the Moll family of gunsmiths, and they are nothing short of FANTASTIC. I don't mean really great, I mean that both of these guns are attic mint and show almost NO USE. The upper gun in the photos is a typical "Schimmel" or farmers rifle. A Schimmel is a term used to describe a rifle that is generally very plain in appearance, with little to no embellishment in terms of special features such as a patchbox, inlays, wood carving, etc. These guns would be placed at the front door or in a barn at-the-ready to be used quickly by a homesteader or farmer that encountered a wild animal that threatened livestock or for instant protection. This gun is 71 inches in length and smoothbore. Other than the broken buttplate, it's as perfect as can be found. The lower gun with the patchbox is 67 inches long and obviously from the same maker and of the same time period. It was probably used as any other Kentucky would be, for hunting and protection. The condition matches the other gun. Both guns are in original flint. Both guns are untouched. Both guns are AWESOME! I threw the Spencer carbine on the floor in the photos for scale. I would prefer not to seperate these, but will if I have to.
