4395 - ANTIQUE GUN, H. ASTON SINGLE-SHOT PERCUSSION PISTOL.
Single Shot Martial Pistols such as this H. Aston are not uncommon and not overly expensive. They did have a place in our country's Military History as being used on the Western Frontier and in the Mexican War but quickly became obsolete with the surge of Colt's Revolvers after the 1840's. This is a very nice, in-the-black gun that is right out of an attic. You can tell how nice it is by the crisp wood and near perfect cartouches, it just shows aged iron parts that need some oil and care. Great action, markings and edges with a few age cracks on the the stock and green goo on the brass parts. A nice candidate for a clean up.

4319 - QUEEN ANNE STYLE SILVER-MOUNTED OFFICERS PISTOL.
This is a very fine Queen Anne, screw-off barrel pistol marked "Wilson" on the underside of its barrel and "London" on its top. It is silver mounted with Military Motif on the side-plate and grotesque mask on the butt-plate. Silver, military style thumb-piece. The barrel is 6 & 3/4" and the gun is 12" over-all. This gun is in very fine condition to include all markings, edges, action and beautiful wood. Wilson was active from 1718 - 1766. Certainly a gun that could have been used in the French & Indian Wars as well as our Revolution.

4315 - CIVIL WAR SAVAGE REVOLVER.
This is a very decent condition Savage Navy Revolver in gray patina. Markings and action are good and the gun cocks on a pull of the ring trigger and fires on the second pull. The cylinder does not rotate on the first pull and an inspection shows the hand spring or the hand and spring are damaged and/or missing. A good smith should be able to fix it and at this price well worth the effort. These were issued to mounted troops early in the Civil War and are very popular with todays collectors due to their unusual architecture.

4292 - BAR HAMMER PERCUSSION PISTOL MADE BY HALL & HODGSON of NEW YORK.
Hall & Hodgson is a rather abscure maker of small handguns from the mid-1800's. This bar-hammer cap & ball pistol is in very good condition and in 32 caliber with a fairly heavy-walled barrel. It is marked with the manufacturers name on its 2 & 1/2" barrel as well as the usual "Cast Steel" as found on many of its contemporaries. The action is crisp, the frame is tastefully engraved with vine scrolling and the grips are full and in fine condition. The gun is in an untouched, light brownish-grey patina. This rare maker is not even listed in the Fladerman's Guide. A nice little early pocket or derringer pistol.

4288 - COLT LIGHTNING REVOLVER.
This gun hasn't been messed with in probably 100 years. It appears to be totally untouched with a nice patina and well-worn grips. Problem is, the last time it was touched, someone switched frames as its a mis-match. I can only assume that the former owner had 2 guns that he was cleaning and assembled them incorrectly a long, long time ago. Bottom line, it's a very nice example,,,, therefore it's cheap.

4272 - VOLCANIC PISTOL BY NEW HAVEN ARMS COMPANY.
This is the difficult to find small-frame 6" barrel Volcanic sometimes referred to as a "Target Model. I don't think I need to describe how nice this gun is. It's not "minty" but it sure is a beauty. It sports deluxe engraving similar to a few large frame models found in the new Volcanic Book. It retains over 90% plating on the frame and maybe 30% on the barrel. The ivory grips are perfect and numbered to the gun. This is a truly fine Volcanic and you may not see another of its kind for quite some time.

4246 - SPENCER SAFETY HAMMERLESS REVOLVER MADE BY MALTBY, HENLEY & COMPANY.
This excellent little 32 caliber revolver is one you won't see every day. Not super valuable, this one is rare in that it is factory engraved with deluxe, decorative hard-rubber grips. The right grip was broken at one time but is not missing the slightest piece and has been expertly glued back together. The all brass gun is period engraved and retains nearly all of its original finish. If the grips were not broken, it would be double my price which is extremely reasonable. I doubt you could find another like it.

4243 - VOLCANIC PISTOL, LARGE FRAME WITH RARE 6" BARREL.
Volcanic Pistols are of the most desirable of all collectible arms. This is a very fine conditioned and rare Volcanic showing 85% original blue on its 6" barrel mixing with untouched brown patina. There is an area of medium roughness on the middle right side of the barrel that should be cleaned but I'll leave that to the buyer. The frame is an untouched nut-brown patina and the grips retain 98% original varnish. This is a great gun that is highly popular and at a much fairer price than could be garnered in an auction.

This is an 1873 Marlin in 22 caliber. I see these price in this condition from $200 - $300.00 elsewhere, but not with these fine ivory grips. Excellent save for a bit of flaking and roughness to the left side of the barrel and on the ejector pin.

4179 - FREEMAN CIVIL WAR REVOLVERS, MATCHING PAIR OF CUSTOM TARGET MODELS.
Freeman Revolvers are considered by collectors as a secondary Martial Revolver as they were produced in 1863-64 with hopes of Government orders for an excellent solid-frame revolver. There is no record that the government ever placed such an order but they are an excellent pistol just the same. This pair (24 numbers apart) were rigged as Target Models and the work and finish is unquestionably factory. The grips are spectacular checkered walnut. The top gun in the photo is in excellent to near mint condition as the photo of the pair shows. The other 3 close-ups are of this gun as well and one can see that this gun retains 98% of its original, brilliant lusterous blue finish. The bottom gun however is re-finished. Still in very sharp, crisp as new condition, the gun obviously saw some use and its owner decided to spruce it up to match its mate. Unfortunately, the person that di the work wasn't very skilled. Regardless, this is a rare set and I will consider selling the guns seperately. NOTE:: TOP (ORIGINAL FINISH) GUN IS SOLD.

4172 - FLINTLOCK SINGLE-SHOT PISTOL WITH BOX-LOCK FRAME AND MOUNTINGS FOR SPRING-LOADED BAYONET/KNIFE.
I'm still researching this one for a suitable price. It is in very good to fine condition with sharp edges and shows little use. The hammer will not stay on "cock". There are two holes tapped into the bottom of the barrel at the muzzle, one with a screw in it. This was obviously mounted with a bayonet at one time and removed. The gun is very dry and I may slap some oil to it and re-take the photos. If you have an interest in buying it now, please give me a call. It'll be reasonable.

4161 - COLT 3RD MODEL DRAGOON, MILITARY ISSUE.
This Colt 3rd Model is in nearly fine condition showing scattered original blue about the barrel of about 15 - 20%. The buyer will be getting a very nice gun for the price I'm asking. The balance of the gun is in an untouched brown patina. The grips are nice and full and show good cartouches. The cylinder scene is nearly 100% visible, slightly light in a few places but all there. The only drawback to this gun are a few slight dents to the face of the cylinder where I believe that someone was attempting to dislodge balls from the chambers. Regardsless, this gun is a bargain.

3424 - KENTUCKY PISTOLS, RARE MATCHING PAIR OF "GOLDEN AGE' PISTOLS BY A FAMOUS KENTUCKY RIFLE MAKER.
You don't have to be a student of Kentucky Rifles or have a lot of experience in the field to see that these are a very important and beautiful pair of pistols. A collector would scream with glee just to behold a single one of these guns and the pair have already caused some rapid heart rates. From what I've read and been told by a few veterans, they shouldn't even exist, yet here they are in all their glory. The maker is well-known, highly respected for his work and featured more extensively than any other rifle-maker in Kindig's book on the subject of "Golden Age" Rifles. These two guns are nearly identical, with 6 7/8” octagon to round, cannon style barrels of 50 caliber. The guns are wonderfully balanced when held in the hand. The wood is a beautiful Tiger-striped maple and each is mounted with identical side-plates and butt-caps of brass, with 3 silver pins rising from the back of butt-plates, each smaller than the next as they ascend, possibly suggesting a flash trail of ignition. There is an absolutely distinct carving to the sides and back of each barrel tang, matching in architecture and quality of execution consisting of beautiful c-scrolls that form a triangular panel behind the tang. This panel is checkered and the treatment as a whole definitively and unquestionably matches the beautiful carving on most all rifles by this maker. The locks do not have roller frizzens and their form date the guns as originating from 1790 – 1810. They are magnificent specimens made by one of the most popular makers of the “Golden Age", virtually unrivalled in their rarity and desirability and are worthy of the finest Institutional or Personal collection. The trademark carving of the barrel tangs leaves no question in the minds of those that have examined them and the consensus opinion is that these guns are the only pistols ever discovered that are definitively made by Leonard Reedy.

3422 - ANTIQUE ROGERS AND SPENCER REVOLVER, NEAR MINT, INVESTMENT QUALITY AND MARTIALLY MARKED.
Rogers & Spencer Revolvers were ordered by the U. S. Government in 1864 and delivered from April through September of 1865. Due to the late deliveries, many of these fine guns were probably never issued and eventually sold off to arms dealers, resulting in a very rare treat for collectors today in that these can sometimes be found in excellent condition. This is one of the best I have ever come across retaining 99% blue on the barrel and frame and just a hint of dark plumbing on the cylinder which is 90+% blue. This mix of blue and plumb actually make the cylinder appear to also have 99% blue at arms length. The grips are also near mint and the gun shows just the slightest handling marks. As you can see in the photos, this gun is an absolute "screamer" and is worthy of a top-notch collection. It would not suprise me to see such a gun priced a thousand dollars higher on another website or at auction.

3419 - BUTTERFIELD CIVIL WAR REVOLVER.
Butterfield Revolvers are one of the more difficult types of Civil War Revolvers to find today. This example is in very good condition, right from the attic and in much better condition than average. The brass frame is an outstanding, deep-dark patina as are all the steel parts. The grips show the usual chips out of the front toes and it is missing its priming mechanism (as most of them seem to be). A collector will have a tough time finding a more pleasing example as this gun is completely untouched.

3412 - SPRINGFIELD ARMS COMPANY POCKET REVOLVER, HISTORICALLY INSCRIBED.
This is an untouched, "in-the-black" revolver with a fine inscription on the left frame that reads, "Z. T. Tibbatts to Chas. W. Litherbury, Dec. 1st, '63". I have found that both of these men were officers in the Union Navy during the Civil War and the gun was obviously a gift or token of respect given by Tibbatts. The arbor is a period replacement and the loading gate is missing. These parts can be found on one of these guns in lesser condition that can probably be found for a couple hundreds dollars. You can then sell the lesser gun at close to what you shelled out. The result would be a fine, historically inscribed Civil War revolver at a low cost basis and I have never seen this model with an inscription. It would be a great addition for any collector that is trying to find an inscribed specimen of each model.

3398 - MERWIN & HULBERT SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER, LARGE-FRAME, EARLY OPEN-TOP MODEL, FACTORY ENGRAVED WITH FACTORY IVORY GRIPS.
This is a very fine condition to near excellent Merwin & Hulbert with 7" barrel and standard Hopkins & Allen, Norwich address. It shows factory engraving with black enamel in the cuts and a wonderfully aged pair of factory ivories on its squared butt. In near excellent condition, the barrel shows 85% original nickel mixing with patina that is primarily on the left side where one would normally hold the pistol during break-down. The frame and cylinder show 98% nickel. The grips are wonderful as is the overall look of the gun which is accented with the black cuts. Left side of frame with engraved Mexican Eagle & Snake motif. These unusual guns have become more and more popular to collectors over the past 20 years. The unique construction of these guns (specifically the method for loading and extracting) have made them not only a curiosity, but many authorities now consider them superior to the Colt Single Action.

3397 - HENRY DERINGER MARKED "DERRINGER".
This is a good condition gun that needs a little "TLC" to make it into a very low-cost and presentable collectors item.. It is missing a standard silver barrel escutcheon to its right side and to its butt. It also shows a small wood repair to the right side of its barrel tang. These features could be easily taken care of by a clever worker. The balance of the gun and markings is very good.

3325 - MANHATTAN POCKET REVOLVER OF CIVIL WAR VINTAGE.
This is a nice little 4" Manhattan with factory engraved frame. It is in genrally good condition showing all of its cylinder scene but needs a bit of care. Everything on this gun is sharp and crisp but it lacks a few internal parts which prevents it from functioning and it has a large chip out of the left grip panel. If you are handy or have some parts laying around, this would be a nice little project gun for somebody.
