4187 - COLT 1861 NAVY REVOLVER, CASED WITH ACCESSORIES.
Slow down people! Dont' get too excited about the price you see here. Although this is a very presentable gun, it does have its problems. This is a factory engraved '61, but the barrel engraving has been freshened as have most of the numbers, the cylinder scene has been re-rolled and everything re-plated save for the back-strap and trigger-guard. The ivory grips are period originals, but possibly not for this gun. The flask, mold, cap tin and nipple wrench are period originals, but the skin packs and the case are repro's. However for the price, this is a very good buy and actually a fairly nice looking set.

4186 - ANTIQUE COLT 3RD MODEL DRAGOON, MARTIALLY MARKED.
This is a really nice Colt Dragoon that is fully martially marked with near perfect cartouches on the grips. It's in the 13XXX range and is about attic-mint. It retains about 20% original blue blending with an untouched blue-brown patina. It shows virtually all of its cylinder scene and all 6 safety pins, attesting to the fact that it saw little use. The markings, edges and action confirm this as well. Outstanding condition for a Colt Dragoon Revolver of any model.

4185 - COLT ROOT REVOLVER, MODEL 2.
This is a fine condition little gun with 10 - 20% original blue on the barrel and 85 - 90% on the frame. The balance to include the cylinder is a medium gray patina and the cylinder shows most all of its scene. The grips are excellent and the gun functions properly. The arbor set-screw is missing. All in all a very nice gun and at a great price.

4176 - COLT SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER WITH DELUXE NEW YORK ENGRAVING.
Now here's a gun that we seldom handle for one reason and one reason only, and the reason is pretty simple. I don't like Colt Single-Actions that have been fiddled with. When I run across an engraved one, they've usually been worked over with polishing, buffing, and enhancing in an attempt to improve the over-all look, especially nickel plated guns that show original brown patina scattered about the plating due to natural aging. The whole point to providing a good product is to buy, and then offer for sale those products that are appealing to the eye of the collector. Since I am also a collector, it just stands to reason that if an item doesn't appeal to me, it won't appeal to my customers. This gun however, will practically bring a tear to the eye of the purist collector. It is absolutely untouched and it's a barn-burner of a Colt. This is an absolutely untouched, Nimschke style New York engraved gun with deluxe, C-grade engraving and spectacular pearl grips that haven't so much as a hairs-breath of a chip on them. It shows 98% frosty plating on the barrel, frame and straps and about 75% on the cylinder that has never, ever been polished. The coverage is outstanding on all surfaces and show the detailed trademark features of a Nimschke gun, not engraved by the master himself, but certainly a student of the style. The frame screws show traces of original blue and the strap screws have almost all of their fire finish. The gun comes directly from a family that finally wished to part with it and it has been with them since at least 1900. There's a monkey wrench associated with this gun. That is, it is in the 95XXX range and letters to the U. S. Government. The frame and cylinder have D.F.C. inspector initials and the gun matches with the exception of the barrel, which is un-numbered. I have forwarded photos and this information to some of the best Single Action men in the business, and consensus is that this gun is most likely made from a few rejected parts that were then re-assembled and shipped to a New York Dealer in 1883. Or, it could have been shipped back to the factory in the group of S/A's to be made into an Artillery Models and was assembled from extra parts and shipped to NYC. Had this gun lettered to New York, it would be valued at $22,000 - $27,000.00. It can be bought for half that amount. I guarantee its production to be from the period 1883 - 1898 manufacture, but the style of embellishment dates it to the earlier time period. This is an outstanding gun and would be a welcome addition to most any Colt Collection.

4169 - COLT POWDER FLASK FOR THE EARLY 1851 NAVY REVOLVER.
This Colt Powder Flask is the early type, with curved bottom to the embossed stand-of-arms. You can note the difference in Rapley's book of Colt Accessories. The later flask has a straight bottom. Made for the earlier small-guard Navies, this flask is in excellent condition but lacks anything but the slightest traces of original lacquer finish, the balance aged to a beautiful, untouched patina. It would be perfect for display with a fine condition Navy Revolver.

4161 - COLT 3RD MODEL DRAGOON, MILITARY ISSUE.
This Colt 3rd Model is in nearly fine condition showing scattered original blue about the barrel of about 15 - 20%. The buyer will be getting a very nice gun for the price I'm asking. The balance of the gun is in an untouched brown patina. The grips are nice and full and show good cartouches. The cylinder scene is nearly 100% visible, slightly light in a few places but all there. The only drawback to this gun are a few slight dents to the face of the cylinder where I believe that someone was attempting to dislodge balls from the chambers. Regardsless, this gun is a bargain.

4120 - ANTIQUE COLT REVOLVER, MODEL 1860 ARMY.
This is a really nice and untouched gun that was almost certainly carried during the Civil War. In the early 5XXX serial range, this gun has been used but very well cared for since its period of use. It is not martially marked (fairly normal in this serial range as government orders had not come in to Colt) and we seldom see any Colt Army's with much of any condition with these early numbers. They seemingly just didn't survive or were so heavily used that they were worn out and probably scrapped or used for parts. This one is in an untouched grey patina, never cleaned or enhanced in any way. The cylinder scene is mostly visible but has worn down some, but shows the ships. I rate it at about 65%. The grips show wear and retain about half there original varnish. The markings are good but a few springs were broken in the works. I sent the gun out and had the broken parts replaced but the action could use some additional tweaking to sharpen it up. All in all, a very good 44 caliber Civil War Revolver, more than likely used by a mounted Cavalryman during the war. It's priced right. Take a look at some other websites or auctions and see what others charge for a gun like this, the most popular hand-gun of the Civil War.

3431 - CIVIL WAR COLT POCKET REVOLVER.
This is a really nice little 5" barreled gun with its only drawback being a slight drag-line where at one time, some moron screwed the wrong screw into the front of the triggerguard. Come to think of it, I did that myself a few times many years ago. I may have owned it before! In any case it's a nice little gun with 90% scene, 90%+ original varnish and nice markings, edges and action.

3427 - COLT NAVY REVOLVER WITH "UPPER CANADA" MARKINGS, UC K 57.
This is a very sharp and crisp gun with a near perfect cylinder scene and the cylinder retains all of its cylinder pins. The grips retain most all of their original finish as well. The markings, edges and action are very sharp and the gun still has all of its high-domed screws and British Proofs. The gun appears to have been cleaned and then fire-blued with a heat source to give it a blued appearance. This can be easily removed by a good smith. The result would be a very crisp gun with no finish, all the scene and varnish. It's priced accordingly and a bargain for a handy collector that knows the rarity and value of such a piece.

3425 - COLT REVOLVING RIFLE USED DURING THE CIVIL WAR PERIOD.
COLT REVOLVING RIFLE, This is a very fine condition gun in the 2,XXX range, of 56 caliber 5-shot cylinder. Many of these rifles in this range were issued to the 4th Michigan and 4th Missouri Cavalry units during the Civil War. It retains 90% blue on the barrel with traces on the frame and a crispy cylinder turned to a plumb-brown. The entire balance of the gun is in medium brown patina. The wood is excellent save for a missing sliver along the right front edge at the cleaning rod channel. The cleaning rod extension rarely found in the butt is absent. A really nice gun that is getting extremely difficult to find.

3421 - COLT WALKER/DRAGOON FLASK.
COLT DRAGOON FLASK. This is a fine condition flask with near perfect body and showing generous amounts of original laquer finish, primarily in protected areas. The top of the cap is stamped "WAT" and has the small "P" sub-inspection marks of Nahum Patch, who examined the earliest Walker and Dragoon flasks as well as the Walker Revolvers. Usual graduated charger spout with "Colt's Patent" stamped trap-door on the ball compartment. This flask is 100% with the exception of the screws that held the cap on. These can easily be replaced. The former owner had taken the top off to clean out caked powder from the sides of the flask interior and mis-placed the screws years ago and never found them. Regardless, these can be replaced and the flask is a great one. These are almost never found in good condition any more and often bring $3,000 - 5,000 at auction. A great accessory to display with a Colt Walker or Dragoon.

3404 - COLT NAVY / ARMY FLASK FOR THE 1860 ARMY REVOLVER.
This is a very good condition flask usually referred to as a Colt 1851 Navy Revolver Flask, but with an Army sized charger such as this, it was most certainly issued with a cased Army. It shows an untouched, deep brass patina to the body, traces of gold gilt to the top and traces of fire-blue on the spring. One small dent on one side.

3324 - CIVIL WAR COLT 1860 ARMY REVOLVER.
This is a very fine to near excellent example of the Colt Army Revolver that was primarily issued to Union Cavalry during the Civil War. It is recognized as the most popular Civil War Pistol among collectors. This outstanding example retains 75 - 80% original military barrel blue and genrerous traces on its cylinder mixing with patina over a near perfect cylinder scene. The frame, lever and hammer show 95% vivid case colors and the grips are excellent with near perfect cartouches. Fully sub-inspected as issued to Troopers, the markings, edges and action on this gun are all excellent. A great Civil War Cavalry collectible and worthy of a fine collection, personal or private.

3276 - ANTIQUE COLT BABY DRAGOON.
This gun is actually a little tougher to find than the normal Colt Baby Dragoon. It is in the 12XXX range and these guns in the late Baby range were the first to have the Stagecoach Hold-up Scene around their cylinders. This only lasted for about 4,000 guns, making them twice as rare as the earlier Babys. This gun is functional and was probably in a deep patinia with some raised rust at one time. It was then cleaned by a rookie that didn't need to be quite so agressive in his efforts. The gun is now in a gray patina and the markings are a little light, but they are all present with some of the scene showing and generally good condition all around. The grips are actually very fine to excellent, retaining almost all their original varnish. It still needs a little TLC in terms of cleaning, but when you're done, you'll easily have a $2500 gun. I doubt you can beat the price on this gun.

3268 - ANTIQUE COLT - EARLY COLT 1860 ARMY REVOLVER WITH 4-SCREW FRAME.
This is an attic-mint Colt 1860 Army Pistol in wonderful condition. I haven't seen a better gun in about 2 years. It shows 80% blue on the barrel and perhaps 20% on the cylinder scattered over a perfect cylinder scene. The balance of these parts is a mix of aged blue and plum patinia. The case colors are neary staggering, showing 99% bright and vivid to each side of the frame and maybe 90% on the lever and hammer. The grips are nearly perfect and the screws are all near mint and do not appear to have been removed in the last 100 years. This isn't a really fine gun or one that you would say "hey, thats a really nice Army". This is a GREAT GUN.

3217 - ANTIQUE COLT - 1861 NAVY REVOLVER WITH BLOWN-OUT CHAMBER AND RIG.
This is a very cool gun in that one chamber blew up and out during its period of use. The metal, having blown outward, was pounded back toward the chamber to free it to turn again and the owner obviously continued to use it as a five-shot! I've never seen anything like it. Other than the blow-out, its a very sharp and crisp gun with light scene.

3216 - COLT DRAGOON REVOLVER - COLT 3RD MODEL DRAGOON, 4-SCREW CUT-FOR-STOCK, MARTIALLY MARKED.
Quite simply one of the best martially-marked 4-screw Colt Dragoons ever discovered. This is a museum quality gun that should be in the finest of collections. This gun shows 65 - 75% soft, military style blue that shows aging and toning with much of it still quite dense. The metal of the entire barrel is excellent showing extremely crisp inspector marks. The two-leaf rear site shows almost all of its blue. The barrel address is like new as is the matching wedge which retains almost all of its original finish. Even the screws for the barrel and lever assembly are excellent with most all of their finish. In fact, all of the screws are in excellent condition. The bore and chambers retain most of their original blue offering evidence that this gun was seldom, if ever fired! The cylinder, with excellent scene and rare, "U.S. Dragoons" motif retains 60 - 70% aged blue and all 6 safety pins are still standing. The case-hardened parts show much vivid colors, hammer - 50%, lever - 75% and the frame 90%+. The frame is fantastic. The grips are near mint showing near perfect cartouches. This is one of the finest martial 4-screw Dragoons in the world and most certainly ranks in the top hand-full known to exist.

3210 - COLT 1860 ARMY REVOLVER, CIVIL WAR REVOLVER.
This is one of the best 1860 Army's offered for sale by us or anyone else in the last few years. It is nothing short of outstanding. It's also an early gun in the 38XXX range with an "OWA" cartouche on the left flat and "JT" on the right. It shows about 85-90% strong Military blue finish mixing with plumb brown on its barrel AND CYLINDER! The cylinder has a near perfect scene with all of its safety pins still standing tall. The case hardened parts show 90% case colors starting to darken. The action, edges, markings, screw heads and inspected grips are all in excellent, untouched condition. This gun was purchased from an owner who started collecting in the 1950's. This gun and a few others that I purchased recently had been in a safe for over 20 years and each and every gun had a high percentage of finish mixing with a spectacular, un-touched rich brown patina. I searched recent auction results and other websites looking for any comparable 1860's and the best I could find had little eye-appeal and the price of almost $14,000.00 made me nauseous. It doesn't hold a candle to this gun. If you have been looking for a great Colt to add to your collection, I recommend that you call me for details.

3200 - ANTIQUE COLT BABY DRAGOON.
This is just a great little Baby Dragoon with the desired long barrel length. Most likely assembled on the same work-benches as the Civilian Colt Walker Revolvers, this 6" Baby Dragoon is just as crisp as can be to include all markings, edges and action. The action is nearly perfect as is the cylinder scene which shows generous traces of original blue about the serial number and stop-slots. The US Dragoons fighting Indians scene rolled into its surface is so sharp, looks like a pen and ink drawing. It retains all of its original silver plate on the straps and has excellent grips and screws. This is a beautifully untouched little gun. I can't describe how handsome it is with a uniform patina rather than a mix of flaking blue and grey. You are welcome to buy an inferior gun for $8,500 - 9,500.00 off a competitive website or at auction should you choose to do so. Believe it or not, some people do!

3196 - COLT 1860 ARMY REVOLVER WITH RARE, FLUTED CYLINDER, POSSIBLY IN CONFEDERATE SERIAL RANGE.
I probably don't have to say much about this gun as most are familiar with exactly what it is, but I will anyway because many new collectors have been hitting my website lately due to a new series of magazine ads. This is one of the most popular collectible handguns in our field. Probably fewer than 4,000 1860 Armies were made with the fluted cylinder and many are known to factory letter as being shipped to Southern States just prior to the outbreak of the Civil War, resulting in Confederate use. That makes it one of the rarest sub-types of Colt Percussion Revolvers. These guns are big and graceful and every Colt collector wants to own a good one. For that reason they command a premium in virtually any condition and usually hit the $10,000 range with little more than generous traces of original finish. I don't believe this gun has any original blue on it, but it has a great looking, rich, deep patina that appears to be a combination of old dried oils and grease combined with natural oxidation to the point of chocolate. You can see a hint of the blue/brown color in the photos. As with most of the guns we handle, it has sharp edges and markings and the action is crispy. It's really gorgeous and has that "Johnny" look to it, brought home in '65 and put away in the attic for a hundred years or so. The pictures do this one justice. It's a really great, crisp gun.

3190 - AINSWORTH INSPECTED U. S. SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH MILITARY FLAP HOLSTER AND UN-OPENED BOX OF FRANKFORT ARSENAL CARTRIDGES.
Every once in a while we come across something special, an artifact that comes directly from a family and one that has never been offered on the market before. This gun is such an item. This is hands-down, one of the best known Ainsworth inspected Colt Single-Action Army Revolvers that I have ever seen or that exists, certainly in the top few percentile. It comes directly from the family with a notarized statement that it has been in their possession for at least the last 80 years and most likely longer. It is absolutely untouched and the pictures pretty much speak for themselves. This gun retains at least 60, maybe 70% original blue on the barrel and a bit more on the cylinder, mixing with patina. It also shows maybe 15 - 20% original vivid case colors in protected areas. The grips are excellent with a near perfect cartouche. The gun is just outstanding and save for a very few handling marks and scratches, it appears to have seen little to no use. The very top of the barrel shows some blotchiness to the finish, and I believe this is from laying in the holster for nearly a century. It comes with a letter from noted Single-Action authority John Kopec, who states that he believes this revolver is "100% AUTHENTIC IN EVERY RESPECT". Further, "THERE ARE NO INDICATIONS OF FAKERY ANYWHERE ON THIS EXCEPTIONAL REVOLVER". In addition, Kopecs' original letter on the gun is followed with another letter in each of the next three years asking to purchase the gun for his personal collection! If you are a single-action collector or a collector that likes examples of very fine items, give me a call on this gun. It is in the 8,XXX range and very reasonably priced. If it was lower than 6400, the price would make your nose bleed.
