4430 - COLT POCKET NAVY CONVERSION REVOLVER.
Not much to say about this gun. Simply one of the better known examples ever offered for sale. 98% blue on its barrel and cylinder and 98% case colors on other parts with some mottling on the right side of the frame. Most screw heads retain their blue and the grips are near mint. There are some tiny scattered pin-prick points of patina about the blue surfaces and they are about the only thing that stops this from being classified as near mint condition. A really great gun.

4372 - COLT 1851 NAVY REVOLVER CASE, FOR A SMALL-GUARD COLT NAVY PISTOL.
1851 Navy Cases and accessories are getting extremely difficult to find in decent condition. This is a particularly nice casing for a small guard Colt Navy. As you can see in the photo, the upper right partition that lays across the top-strap had some damage to one end as about 1/8th of an inch was removed or damaged in some way and then glued back into the box, although it is somewhat loose. I'm not going to touch it. The left lower side piece is also loose and should be addressed. The rest of the box is very fine and shows the extra compartment behind or left of the flask compartment, an early characteristic that was not generally long-lasting and probably configured for Colt Navy cartridge packs. A large guard Colt 1851 Navy Revolver doesn't fit this original Colt casing. Beautiful exterior finish with a single stain on the lid that could probably be rubbed out and the interior is also excellent save for the afore-mentioned partition in the upper right corner. A great box at a very reasonable price.

4371 - ANTIQUE COLT SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER.
This Antique Colt 45 is a nice old gun that is basically untouched. It does have one very slight problem, an almost imperceptible bulge in the barrel. It is so slight that you'd have to search to see it, but it's there and at the breech end. Other than that, the gun is relatively crisp with a good action, markings and edges and grips. Made in 1887.

4325 - ANTIQUE COLT 1849 POCKET REVOLVER, FACTORY ENGRAVED WITH FACTORY IVORY GRIPS.
This Civil War era Colt Pocket Revolver is a very sharp, crisp little gun that is untouched but needs a little attention to its internal parts and a screw or two. Years ago, I had the time to change a few screws and springs but just don't have the patience for it any more, nor is it as easy to find parts. If you have the time as a collector to do so, more and more you'll be able to find bargains on this website. This gun shows very nice Gustave Young engraving and an outstanding pair of factory ivory grips. The gun shows flashes of bright blue in protected areas and is bklending to a nice, light brown patina. The edges, markings and engravings are sharp.

4316 - CIVIL WAR COLT 1851 NAVY REVOLVER.
This is a very fine Colt navy that is sharp and crisp to include about all of its cylinder scene. The shows 60 - 70% original blue on the barrel as well as some blue in the stop-slots. The frame shows slightest traces of case and the grips have 90%+ original varnish. Action, edges and all markings are sharp and crisp as are the screw heads. A great gun at this price.

4313 - CIVIL WAR COLT DRAGOON REVOLVER.
This is a very good condition Colt 3rd Model Dragoon, martially-marked to include faint cartouches. It is fully sub-inspected, has fine edges and markings and has a trace of original cylinder scene. The action is near perfect and tight. It is in heavy brown patine but don't get all goosey about the price. The cylinder is a mis-match, probably replaced or switched out during cleaning or loading of the gun. Regardless, at this price, it's a steal.

4311 - CIVIL WAR COLT NAVY REVOLVER WITH ORIGINAL HOLSTER.
A Colt 1851 Navy that is still "in-the-black" and right out of the woods with its original holster. In the 127XXX range, it is suprisingly good condition showing good markings and edges but it's dirty and shows a thin film of rusty staining which I believe could be cleaned up pretty well. It also shows traces of cylinder scene. The grips are original, nice and full. The action does not function and I know it needs at least a hand & spring. The holster came right out-of-the-woods with it, and needs a repair or just left as found. I don't know where else you can find a fairly good Navy with an original holster at this price. A $1,450 gun by itself when its issues are addressed.

4293 - OUTSTANDING, COLT CIVILIAN THIRD MODEL DRAGOON.
This is one of the best Dragoons that I or anyone else, be it dealer or auction house, has offered in the past 5 years. The pictures speak for themselves. It retains about 70% original blue on the barrel (mostly on the side lugs and barrel bottom) blending with untouched patina. The cylinder retains a nearly perfect, deeply rolled cylinder scene. The balance of both the barrel and cylinder is a mixture of plumbing blue and light brown patina. The lever and hammer show smokey case-colors and the frame shows 95% bright colorful case-hardening on both sides. The grips have all their varnish with minor handling marks. This is a great Dragoon.

4285 - COLT 1851 NAVY REVOLVER, MARTIALLY MARKED.
Colt Navy Revolvers that were military issue are one of the top-dog variations in Colt Collecting with only 2000 or so ordered and issued in the last half of the 1850's. It's safe to assume that most of them found their way into Civil War use by officers of both North and South. This one is in extremely sharp, crisp and untouched condition. Markings, edges and action are near perfect and the gun retains some blue on the barrel around the wedge and on the bottom 3 flats. The cylinder scene is nearly perfect. The frame shows traces of case hardening around the screw holes and the grips are nice and full with the outlines of original cartouches. All metal parts are sub-inspected as issued. This is fine gun that is in an absolutely untouched brown, attic mint condition.

4274 - COLT 1860 ARMY REVOLVER WITH RARE, NAVY SIZED GRIPS AND 2 - DIGIT SERIAL NUMBER, IDENTIFIED TO A CONFEDERATE TROOPER.
Colt Army Revolvers with Navy sized grips are among the rarest of all known Colt variations with probably fewer than 100 manufactured. I say this because I have never noted such a gun with a serial number above 100, and most every Colt book states the same. In addition, this one has the name, "R. E. Day" neatly scratched into the top of its back-strap in script and the same name is stamped lower on the strap and on the butt, but these stampings are very light with some lettering being worn off. This gun is in light brown patina over its entire surface and shows moderate to heavy use. The cylinder scene is all gone and the serial number is faint, but it's there and certainly faint due to being holstered for a very prolonged period of time. The rest of the markings on the gun are good to very good. The grips are original, nice and full but show wear, use and carry as does the entire gun. Extensive research discovered the only R. E. Day that served during the Civil war and he was in the 16th Missouri (CONFEDERATE), which saw action at Pleasant Hill, La, Wilson's Creek, Lone Jack and Helena. They were surrendered with the troops of Kirby Smith in 1865. Very few of this model have ever been offered for sale, with the last two that I am aware of selling for $10,000 - 15,000.00 at auction in similar condition and no identification. This gun is about as rare as it gets, and it has CONFEDERATE HISTORY.

4265 - COLT 3rd MODEL DRAGOON WITH MATCHING SHOULDER STOCK.
I keep heariing from my customers and fellow collectors that they can't find any good Colt's, that they just don't show up any more. Well, here you go! In the 19,XXX range, this big Dragoon is a 100% original 3rd Model with the rare and desirable U. S. Dragoons motif on its cylinder. It shows about 30% blue on the barrel mixing with a deep brown patina on the balance of the gun with blue in the stop-slots. The scene is about 95% and shows a little wear. Grips are very full and fine showing little use. The stock is also very fine showing some blue on the inside of the yolk and the balance a matching brown patina to the gun. Action, edges, markings and screw heads are excellent. This gun was listed in one of Fred Sweeney's catalogs about 15 years ago at $35,000.00. Rarity, condition, desirability and a fair price.

4227 - ANTIQUE COLT 1860 ARMY REVOLVER.
This Colt 4-screw Army Revolver is in generally good condition, one that hasn't been messed with. It's also very early and was probably used and carried the entire Civil War by a Union Officer as it is a civilian model. It looks dark in the photos because its a really dark gun, in heavy brown patina for the most part with slight blotchiness to its color on the right side of the barrel. It shows traces of cylinder scene and the action is sloppy and needs to be adjusted to bring back its crispness. The grips are very fine retaining 90% varnish. It's an old veteran that has never been abused.

This is a really pretty 22 caliber Open-Top Pocket that is mounted with extremely rare mother-of-pearl grips. 4220 - COLT 1851 NAVY REVOLVER OF THE LATE CIVIL WAR PERIOD.
This Civil War Colt Navy Revolver is in fine condition with 80% untouched original blue on the barrel and 10 - 15% on the cylinder (with most all of its scene remaining). The frame, lever and hammer show about 50% fading case-color. The balance of all metal parts are an untouched brown patina and all the markings edges and action are sharp, crisp and clear. The grips are fine and full, but show only traces of varnish. This is a very fine condition Colt that was never abused and has never been cleaned. A little oil and cloth may make it shine a bit more. Suitable for casing with accessories.

4215 - COLT REVOLVING RIFLE, MARTIALLY MARKED.
This Antique Colt Revolving Rifle is one of those items that gives me great pleasure to present to my customers, especially those that are well-versed in rare Colt variations. Although a novice may pass this off as "just" a Colt Revolving Rifle, it is in fact extremely rare and particularly difficult to find in anything other than "good" condition. This is a 44 caliber full-stock rifle that is martially marked to include full sub-inspections and cartouches on its stock. Classified as a First Model Military Rifle, it is in wonderfully untouched condition with perhaps 40 - 50% aged original military blue mixing with an exquisite, deep, blue-brown patina on it's barrel. The frame shows 40 - 50% vivid military blue mixing with the same patina. The screws are near perfect, showing little evidence that they have ever been accosted by a screwdriver. The butt-stock is near excellent, showing the entire outline of a cartouche with difficult to discern initials to its left wrist marking and a near perfect "WAT" cartouche on the right wrist. The upper tang shows a "Colts" over "Patent" over "US", with no other "Colt" markings or patents on any other metal parts as described in Wilson & Sutherlands book as features of the earliest government ordered Rifles together with its unusual, early tang spurs. Single initial sub-inspector marks on all appropriate parts. There is some chippage to the bottom of the fore-end for about 13" from the muzzle back, a phenomenon that is often seen on this particular model due to the tight fit of the cleaning rod and occurs when returning it to its home position in haste. I have only seen a handfull of these guns offered on the market over a nearly 30 year period, with almost all examples showing a grey patina with NO ORIGINAL FINISH. Of those guns, the lowest priced gun was cleaned to the white revealing pitting over its entire surface. It sold for nearly $10,000.00. This gun is in the 3XX serial range and it is thought that there were fewer than 350 manufactured for the military, making it one of the rarest, lowest production Hartford-made martial arms. Examples are known in the West Point Museum as well as some of the finest collections in the world. If you are a collector of Colt Martial Arms, this is an exceptional specimen and it would be difficult to improve upon this example.

4213 - COLT ROOT REVOLVER.
This is a very crisp and sharp Colt Root that some genius has added some cold blue to. It has all of its cylinder scene and is super sharp with excellent grips. The action is perfect as long as the gun is aimed straight up as it lacks a hand-spring, not good for shootin fish. A little tinkering and this can become a $1,350.00 gun.

4209 - ORIGINAL COLT PATERSON RIFLE CAPPER.
If you know Colt Paterson Arms and Accessories well, you know that rifle accessories are not only rare, they are seldom found in the fine condition that Paterson Pistol Accessories are found. This is because most Pateron Pistols were cased and both arms and accessories have been protected from the elements. That's not the case with Paterson Long-Arms as only a handful have ever been found in their original casings. With a quick search on the internet, you can probably find a few tired and worn-out Rifle cappers that have sold at auction or are currently for sale on websites in the $,6,500 - 7,500.00 range. This one is in unusually fine condition retaining about 80% original gold gilt over the strongest embossing I have seen on a capper face in years. All the hair on the mane and tail are bold and crisp as are the muscles on the Rampant Colt. In short, the capper lid looks like a fine gold coin in excellent, nearly uncirculated condition. The interior retains nearly all of its gold gilt. It is serial number 8, one of the earliest Colt Paterson Accessories known. Needs the little ring fastener at its top.

This Colt Open Top 22 revolver is in excellent condition with nearly all its original finish and original period Ivory grips. 4202 - COLT 1860 CIVIL WAR ARMY REVOLVER WITH ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR HOLSTER.
A fairly crisp example of a Colt Civil War Army Revolver that shows heavy use but was generally well cared for. It shows about 60 - 70% cylinder scene and is an all-around gray patina with staining and some roughness in areas with a slight bit of pitting on the cylinder from laying on its side in the holster. Whoever owned this gun did some customizing to this grip by closing in the trigger-guard bow to tighten his grasp. He then trimmed the bottom of the grip to meet the straps. The holster has a repair at the plug. It's all period work and the set smacks of Southern usage.

4190 - COLT SINGLE ACTION SHOULDER HOLSTER BY H. H. HEISER OF DENVER, COLORADO.
This is a relatively rare find and seldom offered on the market. These were offered by Heiser in the 1910 period and were a copy of rigs manufactured by both Furstnow and Coggshall of Miles City, Montana. This example is for a 5 1/2" Colt Single Action and is in great shape save for its missing waist strap. You can find these pictured in the book, "Packing Iron". They were sometimes worn inside of a jacket but more popular with cowboys who preferred to not have their weapons getting tangled with their riggings.
