1108 - FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE BY ADAM ANGSTADT.
This is a fine rifle by Angstadt with beautiful carving about the wrist and in front and back of the cheekpiece. Delicate c-scroll engraving adorns the un-pierced patchbox. The original lock has been re-converted to flint. The wood is a gorgeous tiger-striped maple. The last 10 inches of the fore-end have a v-shaped repair that is virtually imperceptible to the naked eye except upon inspection from the inside, under the barrel. This work was obviously done by a master restoration artist. It is virtually "a perfect repair". The gun is prox. 58" overall and shows classically the form of a Roman-nosed stock that is most desirable in a fine "Golden Age" Kentucky Rifle. See additional photos below !

1103 - 1873 WINCHESTER SADDLE-RING CARBINE, FIRST MODEL WITH THUMBPRINT DUST COVER.
This is a beautiful, untouched carbine that came to us with a group of several other guns. If you can't afford a mint one in the $30,000.00 range, this might be worth a look-see. It is the type of gun that we collectors hope to find, but seldom do. It is just s-o-o-o untouched. It has excellent condition metal and wood and just shows minimal carry and lots of toned original finish. I have taken close-ups of the frame with both light and dark backgrounds so you can get a feel of its true appearance. In some light it looks like 70% blue and in other light, 20%. The color is actually a blend of bright blue, toning plumb blue, and plumb brown. It is all blending evenly on both side, top and bottom. The barrel and tube are quite similar in appearance to the frame. When I inspect guns with this type of finish, they always have nicks and dings and dents from use over the years. This gun doesn't have the usual carry marks. Hard to believe that a Winchester can survive like this but the proof is in your hands when you're holding it. I am selling this gun on consignment for the owner who wants someone to enjoy it. He doesn't want it overpriced but wants a fair return on his investment as it goes on down the road. We will determine the sale price together in the next few days.

1079 - ANTIQUE HENRY RIFLE IN THE 9,000 SERIAL RANGE.
This is a very nice Henry and priced to sell. I doubt you'll find a better one cheaper. Starting from the front, the barrel is a smooth plum-brown patina with the slightest traces of actual blue in the magazine flutes and protected areas. I mean baby-butt smooth and untouched, a near perfect patina. The frame and butt-plate have a wonderful patina and show minimal dings and dents that one would expect from a gun that was used. The wood is beautiful and untouched, perfect fit and pronounced Henry "Bump". Action edges and markings are extremely fine. The brass follower and lever screw are old replacements, possibly of the period. This is a very good to fine condition Henry that other dealers would ask $30,000 or more for. We bought this in a group of items and have priced it with a reasonable mark-up as a group, not to try and squeeze the last dime out of each individual piece. You can find examples of that on other websites all over the net where the items never sell. I guess we're rebels, but, it works for us!

1024 - CIVIL WAR HENRY RIFLE WITH SHOULDER STRAP.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to invest in a better quality camera as I was unable to take a photo that could show exactly how nice this Henry is. It retains 50 - 60% untouched factory blue mixing with a deep, rich patina on the barrel. You can see the blue in the magazine channel, but blue is also scattered all about the remaining barrel flats as well. The edges and markings on the barrel are excellent as is the wood with pronounced Henry "Bump". This gun had been stored for years in the office of a machine shop and the frame had thick areas of dried out grease mixed with metal fines when I found it. I gently de-greased this to avoid scratching of the brass to reveal a fine, mustard colored patina. It does have a few scratches where someone attempted to remove the side-plates during its period of use, but not to detract from its excellent look. This is an outstanding Henry in the 8,000 serial range that is consecutive to a recorded martial and would probably fetch $50,000.00 or more at auction plus a buyers premium on top of that! This gun is available at a much more reasonable price right now. It's the best we've had in some time.

805 - WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 44-40 LEVER ACTION RIFLE.
This is a great old Winchester that went straight from the attic into a fine collection. We don't handle many as most of you know, but this was an easy decision when we aquired it. The barrel and tube retain 99% original blue and the frame 90% with some slight staining from age and not wear or abuse. The wood is excellent. This is a fine Western gun and a great example of one of the most popular collectable Rifles in the world.

632 - PERCUSSION LONG RIFLE BY JACOB FORDNEY OF LANCASTER, PA. A GREAT PENNSYLVANIA RIFLE.
This is an absolutely untouched Kentucky that is marked on the both the lock and the barrel by J. Fordney. I bought this many years ago at the Pottstown Antique gun show and have had it on my wall ever since. In prox. 38 caliber, it would be hard to improve upon this gun which has not a single repair or enhancement to it.

436 - WINCHESTER 1873 RIFLE, FACTORY ENGRAVED WITH DELUXE FEATURES.
This is a great Winchester at a very reasonable price. You probably can't get into a gun like this any cheaper. It is accompanied by an original factory stock record from The Buffalo Bill Historical Center, which houses all the old Winchester ledgers. The letter is from 1978 and states that this gun, serial number 22XXXX is 44 caliber, octagon barrel, plain trigger, checkered stock, pistol grip, gold-plated trims, $10.00 engraving (probably Ulrich), and under remarks is marked "bal-nic". This gun shows beautifull, near perfect, deluxe walnut stock, traces of silver to the barrel, loading gate, trigger and hammer, and a trace of gold over the silver on the loading gate. The frame was probably nickle but is now an untouched grey patina. The engraving is sharp and crisp and has a finely carved bear on the left side of the frame and a dogs head on the right. The engraving is still bold, as are the marking, edges and action. This gun was used, but not abused and is definitely a bargain for the buyer.

378 - 16" VOLCANIC CARBINE IN VERY FINE CONDITION.
A fresh, out-of-the-woods Volcanic in untouched condition. As pretty and nice of a Volcanic that you'd ever want to find. Deep, blue-brown patinaed barrel with sharp edges and markings. It has little specks of raised corrosion that could be cleaned off. The frame is near perfect with a beautifull, mellowed aged nut-shell patina. The wood retains all of its varnish and shows numerous scratches and handling marks but is still beautifull and striking. Henry's and Volcanics are going thru the roof. This is a great little untouched gun priced under what you would normally find one for in this condition.

279 - CIVIL WAR CARBINE. Euro-import.
Now this is a neat little item that can still be found at a gun show on occasion, but they don't talk to you like this one. These little Austrian made carbines are thought to have been imported by both the North and South during the great conflict. In any case, this one just wreaks of history. It is in smooth, deep rich patina and the action is still tight. The wood is also in great shape and it just talked to me when it walked through the door of the Hamburg Pennsylvania Antique Gun show a few weeks ago. It was found in an estate sale with 2 other muskets, an Enfield and a contact musket. I can't make any claims as to its origin or usage, but coming from South Central, Pa. from an estate, it could very likely be a Civil War Veteran.

S3294 - CIVIL WAR HENRY RIFLE, HISTORICALLY INSCRIBED WITH PRESENTATION TO COLONEL AND LATER GENERAL MOSSES R. BRAILEY. GENER.
This is a wonderful identified Henry Rifle. Although I'm sure there must be others, it is the only Henry I know of that was presented to a soldier that eventually attained the rank of General during the Civil War. Moses R. Brailey originally enlisted as a 44 year old, being commissioned Captain of Co. I, 38th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 21, 1861. He served with the regiment briefly, and was wounded at the Battle of Mill Springs, Kentucky in January 1862, causing him to resign his commission February 9, 1862. He later served as a Captain of the 3 months 85th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, mustering in June 10, 1862 as Captain of Company G. He was mustered out September 23, 1862 at Camp Chase, Columbus, Ohio and immediately enlisted in the forming of the 111th Ohio, his commission dating to August 28, 1862. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel to date February 1, 1863, and was discharged for disability following the fall campaign of 1863, his discharge occurring December 29, 1863. Not being one to let a good man leave service, Governor Tod of Ohio appointed Brailey the Paymaster General of all Ohio troops. At the end of the war, Colonel Brailey was given Brevet promotions to Colonel and Brigadier General, both dating to March 13, 1865. Brailey's brevet promotions to Colonel and Brigadier General were for meritorious services rendered at the Battle of Mill Springs, Kentucky while he was with the 38th Ohio. General Brailey served as Comptroller of the Ohio Treasury from 1865 to 1871. He died January 17, 1888 in Swanton, Ohio. The small town of Brailey, Ohio is named for him. This gun is in very good condition and retains an untouched plumb-brown patina to the barrel, an untouched pleasing patinaed brass frame and very fine wood. The gun shows use and carry and could well have seen action prior to its presentation to Brailey. If you want a really great Henry Rifle, there aren't many better that are identified and the inscription is stunning.

S2075 - GOLDEN AGE KENTUCKY RIFLE, FLINTLOCK.
This is nothing short of a classic, special feature "Golden Age" Kentucky Rifle in original flint. It has a beautiful engraved and formed patch-box, silver mounts and silver key escutcheons. The cheek-piece is beautifully engraved with incised carving. Wonderful tiger-striped maple stock. There is an old Fladerman's add in the patch-box describing the gun when it was priced at $7,800.00 almost 20 years ago. This is a beautiful Kentucky with amazing documentation on the maker Jacob Merckle who served in the Revolutionary War as did his father, both of whom were Kentucky Rifle makers. Merckle died in 1821 placing this gun smack in the middle of the "Golden Age" era.
